Rep. Gus Bilirakis is a member of the House Energy & Commerce Subcommittee on Health and Chairman of the Republican Policy Committee Veterans' Affairs Task Force. As such, he is an ardent supporter of increasing access to quality healthcare, as well as protecting Veterans’ benefits and clinical care whenever possible.

Rep. Larry Bucshon, MD, a cardiothoracic surgeon before coming to Congress, currently serves as a member of the House Energy & Commerce Subcommittee on Health. He is the Republican lead on the AUA-supported Prostate-Specific Antigen Screening for High-risk Insured Men Act (PSA Screening for HIM Act – H.R. 1176), which would allow for PSA testing for African-American men and those with a family history without cost-sharing.

Rep. Susan DelBene is vice-chair of the House Ways & Means Committee, which is one of two committees in the House with jurisdiction on healthcare. She also is co-chair of the Congressional Kidney Caucus. During this 117th Congress, Rep. DelBene is the sponsor of H.R. 3173, the Improving Seniors' Timely Access to Care Act of 2021. This important legislation would improve care delivery by streamlining and standardizing prior authorization for Medicare Advantage participants. She also is a staunch supporter of expanding telehealth services and increasing funding for medical research programs.

Rep. Guthrie serves as Ranking Member of the House Energy & Commerce Subcommittee on Health, which has jurisdiction on a variety of important measures including AUA-championed legislation such as the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force Transparency and Accountability Act and the specialty physician student loan forgiveness bill (H.R. 944). Throughout his tenure in Congress, the congressman has supported initiatives that improve the physician-patient relationship and reduce the burdens to medical care around the country. Just one example is the role he played in sponsoring key urotrauma legislation that was enacted as part of the Fiscal Year 2014 National Defense Authorization Act.

Rep. David McKinley is a member of the House Energy & Commerce Committee and has an ongoing interest in addressing the physician workforce shortage – particularly in rural America. He also enthusiastically supports ongoing medical research funding initiatives at agencies such as the National Institutes of Health.

Sen. Jerry Moran is the Ranking Member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee and has recently been appointed to the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, which is one of two committees that oversee health policy in the U.S. Senate. He is a champion for improving the quality of care for the men and women that have served this nation in uniform. The senator also understands the importance of funding biomedical research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and is a longstanding member of the Senate NIH Caucus.

Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger represents the area where the AUA is headquartered in Linthicum, MD. He sits on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, which oversees the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) that annually fund millions in various urologic research programs.

Sen. Brian Schatz is a member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, which oversees the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) that annually fund millions in various urologic research programs. He also co-chairs the Congressional Telehealth Caucus and is an ardent supporter of expanding telehealth services following the expiration of the public health emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
